A large mass in right breast found during self-exam. Swelling, itching, and pain in breast. The mass continued to grow, and right breast become enlarged to almost double the size in two-month period. CT Scan later found out that the mass was about 5cm x 4cm x 2cm. I was finally diagonsed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

Double Mastectomy planned in early 2009 after 5 months of Chemotherapy. Breast reconstruction in future (immediate reconstruction was discouraged due to high possibility of reccurence being IBC).

Radiation after surgery

Started Chemotherapy on September 5, 2008; Taxotere, Carboplatin, and Herceptin – originally planned for 6 rounds (every three weeks). I completed 2 rounds and then my doctor stopped(my mass grew back). Side Effects – Nausea, diahrea, extreme fatigue, bone/joint pain, hot flashes, numbing, weird taste in mouth, loss of appetite

I then did weekly Taxol and Herceptin started 10/17/08 for 6 weeks. Side effects included nausea, occasional diahea, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, neuropathy, hot flashes.

I will start 5FU, Cytoxan, & Epirubicin on 12/02/08 for 4 rounds every three week while continuing with weekly Herceptin for 12 weeks.

I will continue with Herceptin for at least 7 more months after surgery.

CT Scan ResultsViews: 659

I am happy to write that I received my CT scan results today, and it was a good news! It appears there is no metastasis anywhere else, and no lymph nodes involved! I feel so relieved. I also feel so thankful for all the people who prayed for me and sent me positive thoughts. Thank you so much.

I will be having my arm port placement surgery this Friday, and my first chemotherapy will start next Friday. I really hope I don’t have a hard time with chemo and continue to be able to work. My doctor already prescribed me the meds for side effects. Wow, do we really need to take all these? I am gonna go broke just buying these medications!

Hiya Yuyu,
I’m glad to hear the good news! I begin Chemo Wednesday the 3rd of September. My CT scan went okay, but they found a mass behind my liver. They think it is a cyst, but they have to do another scan to make sure it’s not Cancer. I am so upset right now. One more thing to worry about – as if the Breast Cancer isn’t enough!

Dear YuYu; Well it sure has proved that getting a second opinion works! Look at you now! No double masectomy, no lymph node involvement, and chemo right away. NOw that’s progress and speedy too. What great news YuYu, and before you know it the treatments will be over. Make sure you research all the drugs online before you start gulping them down. It always pays to know what you are eating right? Keep us posted. Any chance you might try a pink wig? Think you would look very cute in one. I will be watching for your updates. Love and good luck. Weezie

The first thing I did when I woke up was log on to this website to see how your CT went. I am so happy to hear! You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Such great news! I’m so happy for you! Good luck with chemo!

XOXO

Wonderful news! I’ve been reading your blogs and also was thinking about you a lot yesterday. I am so happy to hear that your scans came back without signs of further spread. I’m sure there’s been a weight lifted off your shoulders. Congratulations! Let us all know how your first chemo goes. Take care.

Great News! Any good doctor will run a lot of tests. You will probably have a bone scan as well. Try to keep your spirits up.

Melissa

A great big HUG sent your way. You are on your way back up the hill…. :-) Stay positive.

Cheryl

Okay Yuyu,

It’s Friday. How are you? How did your port surgery go? Can’t wait to hear from you.

Sonia
